Joseph Stalin and his rise to power
Joseph Stalin was born on December 18, 1878 in a peasant village named Gori and died on March 5, 1953. As a child, Stalin went to a christian school, later to graduate and earn a scholarship to Tiflis Theological seminary. About a year later, Joseph Stalin became aware of the Messame Dassy, a secret organization that was founded to gain independence from Russia. Stalin joined the Messame Dassy in 1898. In 1901, he joined the Social Democratic Labor Party while also working full time for the revolutionary purpose for Russia. However, in 1902, Stalin was exiled from Russia to Siberia for making a labor strike. After the Russian revolution, Joseph Stalin was appointed the general secretary of the communist party. This gave him control of the party members. Stalin would make bad appointments and would consolidate his power so that almost all of the members of the central command would owe their position to him. After Lenin's death in 1924, Stalin made his move and became the leader over Russia.
